The term SIMUMAT is the abbreviation of the Group of Investigation in Mathematical Modeling and Numerical Simulation in Science and Technology.

The aforementioned group brings together researches in the area of Applied Mathematics within the Community of Madrid to stimulate sustained interaction and cooperation for the study, from a broad range of viewpoints and methods, from modeling to mathematical analysis and numerical simulation, of problems of great complexity arising in diverse areas of Science and Technology, which require for their solution the concurrence of diverse fields of expertise.

Current coordinated research topics include:

Fluid Mechanics

Singularity formation in fluids and optimal shape design in aeronautics

Inverse problems in form detection/shape recognition and signal theory

Geometric Mechanics, with applications to the stdy of media with microstructure and control in robotic

Deterministic and stochastic modeling and simulation of complex phenomena in Biology, Social Sciences and Economy

In a methodological and practical level, the exploration of new horizons in computational mathematics.

This program has been selected by the Council of Education of the Regional Government of Madrid to develop Programs of R&D Activities.
